I've been a good kid all year. My class attendance is still 5% above the minimum limit and I've gone through a whole week without swearing!

So send me a Tara Reid this Christmas, ok?
Regards,
Rizz
When life gives you shit, you... uh... make shit-ade. I think...

"The initial sentence for failure to comply with the military
service requirement is 15 months' imprisonment, to which 24 months are added upon a second refusal. Failure to perform annual military reserve duty, which is required of all those who have completed their initial 2-year obligation, results in 40-day sentences; a 12-month sentence is usual after four such refusals. All of the Jehovah's Witnesses in detention were incarcerated for failing to perform their initial National Service obligations and expect to serve a total of 39 months."- International Religious Freedom Report
Oh really. Half of the "able-bodied Singapreans" have already been exempted from National Service, y'know, being of the 'softer' sex and all. Yeah. And the females 'benefit' from National Service as well. Or, wait, do they NOT get protected if war breaks out?The Singapore government has clearly stated: "No able-bodied Singaporean is exempted from National Service as every Singaporean benefits from the peace and security which National Service has helped to ensure".

The following messages are meant for students who are taking module IT1205 OS during this semester. If you are not taking this module, you may ignore the messages.
Dear Students
We have conducted a spot check on Tuesday evening (28 Nov 2006) and have marked attendance at the end of the lecture manually. According to our records, some of you were not physically present when we took the attendance manually. However, according to the on-line attendance system, you have scanned your admin card. Therefore, we believe you have either asked your friends to scan your admin card for you, or you have left the lecture theatre after you have scan your admin card. In either case, you were not present during the lecture.
As you were not physically present during the lecture, we would be marking you as absent during lecture on 28 Nov 2006. The attendance list will be passed to your personal mentor. Please explain to your personal mentor why you should not be marked as absent.
Please be informed that it is an dishonesty act to have scan your admin card and yet not attending the lecture. As this is the second time we have conducted such a spot check during this semester, a clear message has been sent to you. For those of you who have found twice conducting such dishonesty act, your personal mentor will be meeting you for counselling.
To those of you who have attended the lecture regularly, well done, and keep it up.
With best regards,
Chua Kok Leong (Mr),
Module Leader, IT1205 OS.
Goodness.
I would assume this is a formal letter. But if so, why are there so many grammatical errors all over the place? In a single read-through, one should already be able to spot nearly 10 such errors. And I hardly consider this a long enough letter for this many mistakes.
If it is informal, perhaps we do not have to pay it due attention? =P
"As this is the second time we have conducted such a spot check during this semester, a clear message has been sent to you."
Stop and think for a while. What about the mesage WE are trying to send to you? Y'know, the one that says something along the lines of, "The lecturer speaks like a freeeeaakiiiinn' sedaaaaateeed torrrtoiiiisssseeee iiin aaa triiiiaaaathlooonn."
"For those of you who have found twice conducting such dishonesty act, your personal mentor will be meeting you for counselling."
So let me get this straight. If we happened to find a person/thing named 'Twice' scanning his admin card and yet not being present during the lecture, we would be sent for a counselling session? Alrighty.
Truth be told, I actually do know Twice. He's my imaginary friend. The thing is, being imaginary, his admin card (thus also imaginary) doesn't get read by the card reader, so he can't possibly be scanning his card and then leaving now, can he?
I would go on about everything else, but I'm just too bored.
